Car Leasing
Haven't seen a thread on this subject for a good while.

For the first time my next new motor will be leased.

From your own experience what firm have been good and have you been hit for something you were not expecting at the end of the deal?

Cheers.

What mileage do you do PA?

I do 30-35k, I would be looking at double what you pay.

Recently taken delivery of a Mercedes C350e. Company allowance is £350 a month, personal use contribution is £81 and BIK is £16 a month. Not bad for 293bhp with a P11D of over £39000. That was through LeasePlan.

Re: Car Leasing
It never ceases to amaze me that blokes will hire a car, wreck the bugger and expect no come back yet if the same bloke buys one, he expects a pristine showroom model.

In answer to the question, understand what you are signing into, less is not more and is likely to be cheaper for a reason. Dont over run the mileage, tyres, pads etc if chargable should be on a betterment basis. Contract through a member of the BVRLA who have a code to determine fair wear and tear.

Mercedes are doing it with Amg, Audi with S line playing on the "s" badge.

Just trim levels but some divs will tell you they have a Amg - M sport etc wanting the other person to think it is a 63 or M5 etc.

Nothing wrong with high spec cars with affordable engines.

Why o why do BMW stick a M badge on everything?

Really dilutes the brand.

Re: Car Leasing
Go to contract hire and leasing - put in your preferences and it comes up with the best deals.

Just don't trash it, if you do put it right before the inspection.

I had a Touareg on lease, that had a couple of minor bits on it and I got no charge, plus it went back with the same tyres on it, as long as they were legal it was ok.

I got a new 520d m sport auto on lease at the moment, through elite vehicle leading but it's supplied by Arval, they have been good as gold and dropped admin charges on a recent dart charge fuck up. Plus it was £1600 down and £277 a month for £37k listed car, that's fiesta type money.

Btw , I was a fleet manager , we leased 40 odd vauxhalls , 6 Mercedes , and about 10 galaxy's on daily rentals.

Not personall hire.

Re: Car Leasing
Most of the cars I leased were from man egerton vehicle contracts , they was ok , minor scratches were ignored.

Mercedes's was the fucker when it came to extra charges.

Getting them to answer the phone to book a service was a mission in itself.

Re: Car Leasing
I leased one with work. They kept putting the cost up and I wasn't doing enough miles so I got rid of it. Usually costs you to get out of it early though.

Got PCP now, which suits me much better.

Re: Car Leasing
Hahaha you were had over Joe

Leased quite a few motors and never had that kind of drama.

Just make sure if you don't take the maintenance contract with the company you lease from you get it serviced when handbook tells you to and make sure book is stamped by dealer.

That is mainly what they are concerned about that car has been looked after mechanically.

Obviously of you send it back looking like Onslows motor out of Keeping Up Appearances you may struggle

For much of last year I was 'romantically involved' with a bloke who does this for a living. Sounded really boring. He was a very angry man. Well he was by the time I was finished with him.

Re: Car Leasing
You get it brand new and they expect it back in the same condition.

If you get a maintenance contract the biggest con is breaks discs and tyers as "you don't pay for them"

Damage a tyre with 2mm of tread on it and get charged for a new one.

Oh and it needs new discs and pads mate.

Ours was with Lex and we paid for nothing other than the monthly lease payment over 3 Yrs, my son even hit the curb and burst a new tyre and they covered it. Granted they are a bit fussy about how it is returned but again we paid £30 locally for a full valet inside and out and it was returned with no problems.

Re: Car Leasing
Don't know who you work for CT but before leasing a car through the normal leave Co's look into whether your employer offer a salary sacrifice scheme.

Lease vehicles via this option are very cost effective and tax efficient. For example, through the NHS my wife had a Volvo V50 with all servicing, tyres, tax and Insurance for up to 5 people over the age of 21 for less than 320 a month. Lease over 3 Yrs at 12,000 a Year.

Re: Car Leasing
The damage and the prices to repair said damage is outrageous

Stone chip? 1500
Crack in screen? 700
Valeting charge ? 150
